Smart Four Two tweeter upgrade
- just bought a set of new, original Smart Tweeters for my Passion Cabrio.
Fitting instructions ammount to - 'take to your local Smart dealer...'!! I know they shouldn't be too difficult to fit but can anyone tell me - How are the tweeters fixed;are they screwed on from above (or below) or do they 'snap-on' or is adhesive used or ??? Is there a positioning reference on the dash,or do you just guess the location ? I have fitted an aftermarket head unit (Sony Mex. with bluetooth, etc.) so I guess I will need to fit crossovers to the mid-range speakers/tweeters set up.I have seen these in Maplins - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=37755 has anyone tried them before ? many thanks for your help to a 'newbie'.... Re: Smart Four Two tweeter upgrade
If you look around the edge of the dashboard, along the raised lip, there is a small hole. This is the screw hole for fitting the base part. According to the full evilution instructions you should dismantle the dash and remove to make the hole for the wire to go through. I covered mine in black insulating tape and tucked it in the gap between dashboard and tridion. It can then be fed through the dashboard. The speaker the is fitted and twisted through 30 degrees to lock ensuring that you align the contacts away from the fitting screw.
As to amplifiers and stuff, can't help there. |

Re: Smart Four Two tweeter upgrade
Tweeters are run on "rear" output of smart head-unit which has built-in crossover for those channels only, while front outputs power mid/bass speakers without any crossover.
