Broken Centre vent, how do I get it out?

Just got into the Smart car thing and was transporting an engine lifting rig back to mine and restede it on the dash while I manouvered it in.

It cracked a couple of flaps on the centre vent, I have got a replacement from e-bay, but don't want to start ripping the dash apart if it's a simple job.

Can anybody help, I had a look through the Evilution bits and got the stereo bit OK but is it just a case of pulling the top bit up where the hazard switch is?

It's a 2007 Pure, not sure what the 450, 451 stuff denotes to either, got no books with the car so I'm stumped.

Heeeeellpp!!!

Your's is a 450....the 451 is the 'new' version with the straight dash!

I take it this is the bit you were looking at?

Obviously you don't need to go through the whole dash removal, but it does tell you how to release the triangle on the top, and the bolts inside the triangle (Check if there are any more at the bottom)....I think you should then be able to get the centre panel off enough to access the vent.

Take care not to force anything & do any more damage!....If in doubt stop!

Best of luck.

Thanks for the advise, I will lever it out carefully on the weekend and see how it goes, I'm used to working on Minis so this is all new to me.

I will have a go anyway, can't be that hard I'm sure, thanks for the link.

cheers,
